Customs Regulations and Visa Requirements of Armenia

Obtaining a visa

In order to visit the Republic of Armenia on a tourist visit, or to undergo treatment in any clinic in the country, from February 23, 2017, no additional documents are required, except for a Russian passport. According to it, it is possible, similarly to past laws, to stay in the country without a break for no more than 180 days for every six months. Check a2zdirectory for history of Armenia.

If a tourist is traveling with a child, he will need an additional package of documents, including the following:

  • minor’s birth certificate
  • international passport if the child has reached the age of 14, or the parent’s international passport with data about the child entered there. It is worth remembering that for children over six years old, a photo is required in the passport.
  • if the child is accompanied by only one of the parents or any third party, it is necessary to present a notarized power of attorney for the removal of the minor, written by the remaining parent

The situation with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), whose independence, apart from Armenia, is not recognized by any UN member state, is much more complicated. Firstly, in order to legally stay in this territory, you need to obtain permission from the consular department of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, as well as from the corresponding department of the NKR. Secondly, Russians will need a passport valid for the entire stay in the republic. For tourists traveling with pets, Armenian legislation has prepared a separate paragraph of the entry rules, according to which you must have with you:

  • An international veterinary passport with a photo of the animal
  • Vaccination Certificate
