Pebble Steel: E Ink Smartwatch Is Chic and Stable

The Pebble Kickstarter history and was often mentioned in the daily press, so far still prefer remained a niche product for nerds Curtis. That should change with the second generation of the smart watch.

For the Pebble now gets a clear distinguishing look:the housing is made of stainless steel and is available in black or brushed look. There are the appropriate stainless steel bracelets and leather straps, supplied as an alternative. The glass of the watch is made of Gorilla glass and should therefore significantly less sensitive than previously according to hyperrestaurant.

The inner workings of the Pebble, however, hardly changes the steel models: recurrence an E-Ink display used that requires little energy and enables such maturities by about a week. To recharge the watch is connected by means of a magnetic connection, similarly as with the Apple MagSafe adapter, the socket.

Also the Pebble Steel is water-proof and compatible with all existing Pebble apps, just like its predecessor. A tri-color LED is also new, providing information about the current charging status of the batteries.

The Pebble Steel is available on the official site available for pre-order, the delivery should be then end of January. The price is 249 dollars (well, 180 euro) including shipping, however currently no delivery can be made to Germany.  (cel)
