The GlashÜTter Retro Chronograph In The Check
The Belisar chronograph from Union Glashütte looks like a stopper from the forties in its retroversion, but it offers the latest watch technology. Because we liked design and equipment, we took a closer look at it.
Retro is one of the strongest trends of the current watch season. According to vaultedwatches, rightly so, because of the designs of past decades, latest trends watch brands can look a lot. For example balanced proportions, a harmonious color and well chosen pointer lengths.
Union GlashÜTte Combines Retro Style And Modern Requirements
In chronographs, there are still sufficiently large auxiliary dials, shapely and ergonomic operating elements and often also a tachymeter scale for determining average speeds.
All this applies to the Belisar chronograph in the retroversion tested here, whose cream-colored dial perfectly harmonizes with the red chronograph displays. One thing, however, would probably have been missing in the forties: the date display. This would have had its good, because here the white rather than the beige date is not a too harmonious solution. The fact that the finely scaled track minutiae can only be deciphered with a little effort in minutes and seconds, does not make much difference to retrofans, as does the overall not too high contrast.
The Chronograph From GlashÜTte Convinces With High Quality
While you can discuss the date and the contrast, the Belisar Chronograph is beyond all doubt. For 2,370 euros you get a polished and frosted steel case with sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both sides, eight-screwed sapphire crystal back and an exciting detail in the form of screwed flanks on both sides of the case.
The water tightness to ten bar is sufficient for a sporty and elegant model in any case, even if one should avoid the wet element because of the finely processed and beautifully structured goat leather bracelet. Apropos fine processing: Inside the high-quality case ticks modern watch technology with attractive decorations. Apparently a conventional Valjoux caliber, it is really a further development with increased utility. Name: UNG-27.01 .Advantage: 60 instead of 46 hours of gait.
The factory is distinguished by the form of an automatic bridge, balance cock and back-regulation from the Basiskaliber Eta-Valjoux 7753. It is supplied by the manufacturer in individual parts and decorated, assembled and equipped with individual components such as a separate rotor. The assembly of the complete clocks as well as all the service work is done by Union in Glashütte.
The Belisar Chronograph Has Very Good Performance
The result of all these troubles: the dial can carry the seal of approval “Glashütte / Sa.”, The work looks good with its trim and blued screws, and the watch runs with very good +2.7 seconds per day according to the time scale and tragetest – at a manageable position difference of seven seconds. This means that anyone who does not mind the date display makes a good grip with the Belisar chronograph.
