The new Watch magazine goes to the limits: The editorial team has sent the Omega Globemaster into the seven Tesla strong magnetic field of an MRI research system, researching the success secret of the Rolex Datejust and dedicating itself in a special to the divers and extreme sports watches . With our video you can accompany the professionals of the fire and Disaster Protection school Rheinland-Pfalz with the Diver watch test on your way to the depth:

When people need to be rescued from a sunken car wreck, every minute counts. As well, when you have the time in view–preferably with a chronograph. At the fire and Disaster Protection school Rheinland-Pfalz, five professionals show us how such a rescue operation is practised. It goes 12.5 meters down to the depth of a diving tower. At the bottom, two dummies in a car wreck are waiting to be placed safely on the surface.

A second exercise focuses on the safe mountain of an injured diver from the water. All the handles must be seated, because every minute is valuable. Although fire-fighters usually do not use their own wrist watches, for us they make an exception. The chronographs of Breitling, Marcello C, Mido, Oris and special purpose watches are tested for their suitability for use. The judgement of the experts is quite critical. In watches, the divers pay attention to safety and functionality. You can find out how the five divers watches in the endurance test of the fire brigade have cut off in the new Watch magazine.

Even more divers and extreme sports watches

Already more than 7,000 years ago, the first people immersed themselves in the depths of the oceans for pearls. The first waterproof (pocket) Watch did not appear until the end of the 19th century according to thereligionfaqs.com. We have compiled the most interesting highlights from the history of the mechanical bracelet dive watch.

And if you really want to immerse yourself in the deep sea, this booklet will find the right companion for you. But clocks must withstand extreme situations not only under water, but also on land. In this special we present you with a timepiece with very special characteristics.

The diver watch special appears in the new Watch Magazine–now available here.

World premiere: A master chronometer of Omega in 7 Tesla MRI

This has never been official–a timepiece in a magnetic field of 7.0 Tesla. Omega has invested many years to develop a completely magnetic field-resistant movement technique. The constellation Globemaster is the first to represent this technique: it carries the certificate “master Chronometer”. In this way, it resists magnetic fields in a strength that they can meet in our everyday lives. But what does the watch actually stop? This question could not be answered clearly by Omega itself. Siemens allowed us to take an exclusive and spectacular test in the world’s first self-developed 7-Tesla MRI research system.

Here you can find the test result: In the new Watch magazine!

The watches of the IWC

The success secret of the Rolex Datejust

From the fluted bezel to the Cyclops magnifying glass above the date, from the five-pointed crown on the Twelve to the inscription: “Chronometer of Superlatives”–a consideration of the design features of the Datejust shows why Rolex is so successful and the world’s most well-known Watch brand.
